Sooooo… It’s been over a month since the inauguration. Players in the Trump Administration, Part 2 did the Birdman hand rub, settled into their roles and wasted no time doing what they told us they were going to do in 2024. Ain’t nothing new and nothing nice. The theme for the next four years seems to be “Destroy and Rebuild”.
I’ll be watching to see if things are rebuilt for the better and in the best interests of Americans and the Republic. I want to be proven wrong but I don’t know, y’all… BAs are a resilient group and we know we gone make it do what it do, ya ya.
Still, if you haven’t already, reinforce those moats; continue to regroup, readapt, restrategize, reorganize yo life. Gather ’round family/friends/allies, and be in communication and in community with them to shore up and share info, resources, ideas. Plan ahead and be ready to overcome and/or withstand what’s coming that could threaten your life, your money, your livelihood.
With an emphasis on livelihood, know that “jobs” are BS this era. The federal minimum wage is still $7.50, like we in 1976. AI will make obsolete a lot of the paper/pixel pushing and administrative jobs that us regular folk do. If your job is not highly specialized or essential to public health or national security or biosafety or farming or emergency services, it will probably disappear or be downsized, offshored, filled for cheap(er) by foreign workers through H1B programs.
If you’re not already a multimillionaire; if you don’t own or aren’t inheriting lump-sum/life-changing money, farms, real estates, investment portfolios, music catalogs, royalties from inventions/patents/licensing deals from Boomer parents or grandparents, day-to-day life will continue to be extremely difficult to navigate as illegal corporate price fixing makes essential groceries, products and services unaffordable.
Unchecked greed and resource hoarding are threats to citizens. Wealth is calcified at the very top and the divide between the rich and everyone else is the greatest it’s ever been. Billionaires hoard money and resources. Corporations strong-arm and bribe politicians who, in turn, keep policies in place that harm Americans.
Do what you need to do to keep the job(s) you have. Try not to quit (make them fire you so you can file for unemployment benefits). Pick up a side hustle or gig work or make money online on the side to establish yourself if SHTF. Have backups for your backups. And keep your head on a swivel.
